Job Description:  Category: Nursing//Leadership, Facility:Banner Thunderbird Medical Center ,Location: AZ-Glendale (Banner Thunderbird), Department:Clinical Care Operations, Shift: Weekend Staffing Program. Work every other Sat & Sun (working 24 hours and paid for 32.16) JOB SUMMARY: Assumes administrative responsibility during assigned shift to ensure that safe, Best Value Care is provided to patients. Acts as an interdepartmental liaison to coordinate efficient delivery of service.
Responsibilities: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Collaboratively works with Department Directors, Assistant Directors, or designees to supervise staff during absence of department management. Provides interim leadership, including crisis intervention management, as a representative of Hospital Administration. 2. Functions as a clinical resource to identify and resolve problems and/or potential problems. Appropriately channels information to Administration, Risk Management, and other resources as indicated. 3. Oversees Nursing Unit staffing to assure safe levels of staff and maintenance of budgetary targets. Provides direction to the Staffing and Patient Placement office. 4. Strives to promote and enhance positive relations with customers on all levels. This requires timely interaction and appropriate follow-through. 5. Assumes an active role in planning and decision-making efforts through various hospital and system-wide committees. 6. Utilizes clinical knowledge and skills necessary to effectively meet the needs of patients in all age groups. Follows safety standards in all aspects of performance of the above functions, reports/removes unsafe equipment and attends safety education sessions. PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS/ ENVIRONMENT: 1. Participates in self-evaluation and self development by attending continuing education programs to maintain clinical and supervisory competency. 2. Serves as a resource for all policy, procedure, and regulatory agency requirements and interpretation while on duty. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly Reporting: This position is responsible for providing supervision to all hospital personnel on the assigned shift by collaborating with Department Directors, Assistant Directors, and Human Resource department. Indirectly Reporting: Scope of Supervisory Responsibilities: Banner Health Leadership will strive to uphold the mission, vision, and values of the organization. SCOPE AND COMPLEXITY: This position has a contributing regulatory impact on the operating budget of all departments in the facility.
Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a current RN Licensure by the State of Arizona with a BSN or Health Care related Bachelors degree. Five years of clinical experience and two years of supervisory experience are required. Certification in ACLS, PALS, and NRP are required. This position requires effective human relation, communication, and problem-solving skills Banner Health employees are expected to adhere to Banner’s service standards, code of conduct and organizational values in all their interactions with Banner patients, other customers, and fellow employees.
