Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Associate Administrator, the Director of Nursing is responsible for developing and implementing strategies for the clinical care delivered in LDRP. May also have responsibilities for non-clinical functions related to the clinical area(s). As the leader, the Director will shape and interpret the standards required to ensure quality outcomes and a high degree of patient, physician and employee satisfaction. Demonstrates the Expectations of Banner Leaders: 1) People Focused, 2) Customer Centered and 3)Results Oriented. Internal customers: All levels of nursing management and staff, medical staff, and other health care members for the purpose of integrating services, improving patient care, ensuring effective communication systems and facilitating decision making in clinical practice and business related issues. External customers: Patients and families regarding patient care issues; physicians regarding patient care and program development; vendors regarding supplies and equipment and other contracted services; staff from other health care agencies/providers and community/professional organizations for the purpose of exchanging patient and program information; and JCAHO, state, federal and community agencies regarding compliance with laws and regulations. This position is extremely complex in the balancing of expectations by staff, physicians and leadership; as well, managing the growth of services given budgetary and staffing challenges. This position is pivotal for the organization in maintaining a positive work environment, accomplishing growth strategies and meeting targets for patient and employee satisfaction.
Qualifications: To function effectively in this position the incumbent must possess a current RN license, a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, considerable experience with appropriate age specific patient population and at least two years of management experience. A Master’s degree in nursing or business is preferred. Must possess demonstrated flexibility in responding to the needs of multiple constituencies and a service-oriented philosophy. Must also possess demonstrated skill in problem analysis, project management, contract negotiation, conflict resolution and oral/written presentations.
