would not recommend this facility for a geriatric mental health patient. When they are admitted, they are ALL labeled as dementia patients regardless of their past condition or current medical state. They seem to have never heard of delirium and will tell you a very rapid decline in mental status is ALWAYS a sign of late stage dementia - even if the patient never had dementia and even if the change came on suddenly. They will smile and tell you that most of the patients there just woke up loopy one day (all old people have dementia, after all, don't they?) and there are no underlying medical issues to investigate. Patients are medicated and left to sit in a room with other patients all day and night with no stimulation. They are not walked and all sit in alarmed wheelchairs. Don't expect a doctor to take the time to speak to you either. No one will tell you what meds they have given your loved ones unless you ask. All communication will come from a social worker unless you are very, very pushy. It is wrong the way the elderly are treated here. My mother left with an undiagnosed staph infection. Advocate for and protect your loved ones
