I live 5 min from this hospital. I used to be employed here. I have always been a loyal supporter of this hospital.
The past two years I have had not one positive experience.
On my first neg experience, I arrived at the ER with severe chest pain. There was one other person waiting in the waiting room. My driver went up to the desk to explain that I needed to be taken back ASAP because of my pain. They chose to take the other pt. back before me even though the patient asked them to take me first. It was almost an hour before I was triaged. The male nurse that interviewed me was extremely rude. I was taken back and put in a room. After the dr. saw me and ordered pain med. the nurses still refused to give me anything. They said it wasn't in the Que. Since, I talked to the admin. secretary, I know that was a lie. Anyway, I was never given anything for pain and was sent home.
My husband was taken per ambulance to ER for heat exhaustion, the ER treated him well, but after being transferred to the floor his IV was never restarted and they would not send up any food. I had to go out to restaurant to get him food. They didn't want me to give it to him, but when I pointed out that the IV had still not been hooked up and he was supposed to be being hydrated and it had been about 4 hrs. since he had been on the floor, they hung a bag of IV fluid and let me give him some dinner. His dinner showed up about an hour later and it consisted of a turkey sandwich, applesauce and 4 oz of juice.
Most recently, I was scheduled for a thyroid uptake scan. I had to be off my thyroid med for six wks prior to test, take the day off work etc. This was all sched six wks in advance. The day before the test, someone called me and told me it had to be rescheduled because they didn't have the radioactive pill for the test.
All of these things are unacceptable and I hope I never need to visit this hospital again nor would I recommend it to anyone.
