End stage cancer pt. was taken to the ER in acute abd. pain uncontrolled by home meds. The pt. was highly medicated and was left unattended to use the restroom--the nurse stood there and watch the pt. climb out of bed over the side rails--then left the pt. in the bathroom unattended and never returned to the room. The physician came into the room and answered some family and pt. questions then left and sent the nurse in to tell the pt. she
(the Physician) did not have time to answer any more questions because she had another pt. in the room next door that had overdosed--talk about HIPPA violation.
