Prescription Renewal Problems - 12/24/2008 15:45:08
Anita McCullough from Grants, NM
The Nurse Practitioner, Melissa Parra, was absolutely wonderful during both visits. She was professional, thorough, and caring -- I never felt as though she was in a rush.
The problem occurred six months later when it was time to renew my prescription for my high blood pressure medication. I don't live in Albuquerque, so my local pharmacy faxed over a request for my prescription to be renewed. The doctor (Dr. Lacy) never faxed the prescription, so I called (3 times) -- still no prescription. The 3rd time I called, I was told that it's hard for the doctors to "get around to" faxing over prescriptions because they're so busy. I asked if maybe I was supposed to go in for another appointment before the prescription could be renewed? There was never a response to that inquiry. By this time I had gone without my medication for nearly 3 weeks, so I finally had to go to another doctor to get a new prescription.
I'm just thankful my health didnt' suffer significantly, although by the time I went to another doctor, my blood pressure was higher than it had been. I will not be returning to Lovelace for my medical care. I sincerely hope that Melissa Parra relocates to work under another doctor -- she doesn't deserve to get a bad name because of the insensitivity/unprofessionalism of the doctor she's working under now.
