I have been a patient at Beaufort Memorial 4 times in the past 2 years, either for ICU or Acute Care services. The food service department is the BEST I have ever enjoyed. This department is run like a 5 star restaurant and the staff is very professional. If special requests are made, they fill them. Hospitalizations are a pain, but I always had meals to look forward to when I could eat. The representative from the department will come and introduce themselves to you, which impressed me as this person genuinely loved her job and had an air of crisp efficiency. I was in BMH 9 days running in May 2006, just a month and a half after being a guest in their ICU for Pneumonia and strains A and B of the flu. I was in a coma on a ventilator for a period of time. I was unable to enjoy the food service departments wealth until the month and a half later when I was back with an unidentifyable bug which had caused the pneumonia again. This is when I really got to enjoy the bounty from the kitchen when I regained my appetite. I enjoyed writing notes on my menu forms to be taken to the kitchen to demonstrate my appreciation for their services and meals, SNACKS too! I hope this gets to the food service department as they deserve every bit of praise they get. Thank you BMH food service department. You made a very sick person very happy!
