Two people very dear to me were admitted into the MCA Hospital within the same year. My Grandfather, who was having failure with his bowels and my Father, with a heart infection that caused a minor heart attack. Both times, I felt the staff was very cold and neglectful. I understand that they see many hurting people with there families everyday and that to an extent you have to keep feelings aside. However, where is there compassion?
My Grandfather went in with a problem that should not have ended his life but it did. It was a test that was performed that caused fluid to enter his lungs which was overlooked until he returned to his room and my family saw him gasping for air and unable to breath. After my family called for the nurse, after several minutes still had not came to our room, my family had to go to the nursing stand and demand immediate attention. He was then admitted to the ICU, hooked up to a breathing machine, drugged up to the point of incoherense, and he died there several days later. His face had a huge soar from where they had the straps for the breathing tube, it was obviously not attended to for several days even after I said something to the nurse.
My father entered the hospital just months after my grandfathers death for heart issues. The day after his heart attack, they performed a stress test on him! Immediatly after the stress test they took him to a lab to do some tests but there was someone already in the room so they left my father in the hall alone for several minutes. There he began to sweat profusively, was short of breath, and began to black out unable to move or call for help. After a few moments, he regained consiousness and was able to get up. Not knowing where he was, he entered the nearest bathroom to throw water on his face and cool off. A few more minutes later, someone finally returned and when my father told him what had just occured, he simply brushed him off and performed his tests. I cannot believe the staff at this hospital would be so ignorant. I would not recommend anyone to put the life of their family member in this hospitals hands.
