Forget ER - 04/27/2009 11:25:33
Mike M from Fort Collins
I went to the ER with sever pain due to an intestinal blockage. The triage nurse was terrible. After waiting quite a while to be seen by him, and he didn't know what a neobladder was and asked if I had had colon cancer as the reason my bladder was removed.
People with cut fingers were being taken back before me.
I and another patient in severe pain were left for the last three patients to be seen. This was after a 6 hour wait. Once I finally got back to the ER, the nurses and doctor seemed competent. After a couple more hours, I finally got the CT.
Since I had the same problem a few months ago, I knew exactly what was wrong and what needed to be done. I needed a contract CT to confirm the diagnosis, IV fluids, and IV pain medication to releve the pain and slow the intestines.
Since the triage nurse didn't have a clue, I think he may have just figured I was just constipated or something.
I was admitted for 3 days once they finally got around to seeing me.
If you ever have to go to this ER, I suggest getting taken in my ambulance so you can avoid the lousy triage nurse.
What a NIGHTMARE - 04/02/2009 17:50:31
John B from thousand Oaks, CA
A total NIGHTMARE. Unless you are dying, stay away from this hell hole of a hospital and their emergency room. I went in with a high fever, was taken to a room within 30 minutes, and then waited.. and waited... and waited...I spent more than 5 hours just to be told that there was essentially nothing wrong after my fever was gone. That would have been ok, except that the doctors here do not exist - I think they had one physician on staff for the 20 or so patients. Another King Drew Med Ctr in our backyard. The health department needs to investigate. What a sham!!
