Midstate Medical Center Visit at the ER Very Bad - 11/01/2009 20:06:29
Valerie from CT, Meriden
I went to the ER on Nov. 1st 2009 because I had breathing problems associated with the flu. My family physician told me to go and get my lungs checked out.
Well, the whole thing was a joke. Check in got messed up, nurse taking symptoms was nice.
And a nurse was the one who did an exam which was: listening to my lungs through , several layers of clothes: Undershirt, turtle neck and knitted sweater, two breaths in the front on the right, two breaths on the back on the right.
Than she gave me a prescription she was not sure I can take because I have a 6 months old baby whom I am breastfeeding. But ask the pharmacist about it, because she is not sure.
She can not tell me if this is viral or bacterial, becasue I do not have a fever she can not give me antibiotics, there is a probable chance I will not get better, but anyway that is all she will do. Come back if I am not better.
Yeah what is another $50 for a copay for 2 hours and getting checked out by a nurse.
I am not sure what is happening in our health care, but as long as I remember, my doctors always listened to my lungs without the clothes, they said you need to remove the thick clothes out of the way for the best hearing.
So probaly she heard nada because how could she? Plus with four breaths? She did nto even do a whole up and down and back and front listening.
So did she know what she was doing or she just did not care?
Well, the medicine was not recommended by the pharmacist, so I ended up with plain old Robitussin. Plus I probably need to get checked out again during the week.
I would avoid this place and the walk in one in Wallingford too.
Long wait, in the Meriden hospital they do not even check you out right, This was not the first time but the 4th. So Unfortunately that is the truth. Good luck everyone.
