Review #1
Operating Room Nurse Resume
Expert's Opinion:
This
resume had room for improvement in many areas.
For example:
1.
Applicant had a BSN
but did not place their BSN credentials next to
their name at the top of their resume.
2.
Area codes should always
be included in a resume as many times applicants
are applying to facilities outside of their home
state, and interviewer should not need to look
up an area code to contact an applicant.
3.
Position Objective:
Objectives should be tailored to the position
that you're seeking, but use some common sense
as well.
If
you're seeking a Director of Surgical Services
Position in a small, rural hospital, and your
position objective states: "To secure a position
as a Director of Surgical Services" then
you'll be fine. However, if you later decide to
broaden your job search to include larger facilities
where your experience is not extensive enough
to apply for a Director Level position, you may
want to change your objective to read that you
are seeking a position in leadership or management
within Surgical Services rather than submitting
a resume that states you are seeking a Director
Level Position.
4.
Qualifications:
When listing your qualifications on a resume,
make sure you limit yourself to describing your
experience and accomplishments, not your belief
systems. Save discussion about your beliefs for
the interview. Use action words in this section
and provide examples of how you managed people,
saved your facility money, and/or solved problems.
5.
Work History:
check and then double check your resume for spelling
errors.
