Community Description:
Grand Junction, a community of approximately 100,000, is located in the northwest part of Colorado. It is in the Grand Valley of the Colorado River on the western slope of the Rocky Mountains. The valley is surrounded by mountains that reach heights of 9,000 to 10,500 feet. Highway distances from Grand Junction to other major cities in Colorado are 89 miles east to Glenwood Springs and 248 miles east to Denver. Furthermore, the Utah border is only 30 miles away from Grand Junction.

Grand Junction is the countyseat of Mesa County, the 9th most populous county in Colorado and the hub of the western slope as it sits half-way between Denver and Salt Lake City. Rich in history, fruit orchards, and country living, Grand Junction is a regional trade center because of its abundant natural resources and its location at the junction of two major highways - north/south U.S. 50 and east/west I-70 - as well as being a major rail and airline center for western Colorado.
