Q. What makes working in your organization different from working for other employers?
We are a very friendly, family-oriented organization. Many of us have grown up in this community, and have worked here ever since we were young. We have a state-of-the-art facility; we are small, but mighty! It is a fun environment. You don't mind getting up and coming to work!
We also have an employee referral bonus!
Q. Can you explain the career opportunities available for new graduates in your organization?
The hospital hires new graduates in all departments. No one is put on call unless they have been thoroughly checked out and approved to be able to handle most any situation, keeping it safe for both patient and worker.

The hospital offers a comprehensive orientation program for all new employees. The orientation must be completed before working independently.

For new employees in the area of nursing and cardiopulmonary, we have a wonderful orientation process that is called Performance Based Development System (PBDS). Our education department does the testing. Dr. del Bueno is the developer of this program. We send the test results of all of
our nurses, LPN, RN, CNA, and CRTT and RRT's to Dr. del Bueno for grading. This testing process assesses critical thinking, technical, and intrapersonal relationship skills. No employee will be on their own until they have worked on their weak areas with an experienced preceptor.
Q. What can a candidate expect during their interview process?
You will be screened by human resources staff to see if your qualifications meet the requirements of the position. The second step would be for our managers to interview you. References are checked, and if the position involves handling money or going into homes, employees are screened through the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. A credit check is performed.
Q. What are some common mistakes candidates make when applying for jobs with your facility?
We like an applicant that has a certain amount of confidence. There is a difference between being confident and overconfident. Being overconfident may not be helpful to an applicant. Perhaps asking more questions, and not making assumptions about the expecations that we have for our employees, would help candidates in having a better chance of successfully obtaining a position.
Q. Describe the employee compensation and benefit packages available at your organization.

Q. Most facilities stress only the positive aspects of working for their organization. What are some of the challenges faced by new employees and even experienced personnel?
Staff coming here to work who were previously from larger and faster-paced environments may find things less stressful. Some people thrive on stress. It may be hard to gear down. Our patient volume is high however, particularly in the area of outpatient services. Our size and rural location however, provides a much less stressful working environment than if one were working in a larger, more metropolitan facility.
Q. What is the best way for a candidate to apply for a job with your facility?
