The Petersburg Medical Center is an ultra-modern complex of 47,250 square feet with 11 acute care and 14 long term care beds. Participating on the cutting edge of technology, it is a partner in the Rural Telemedicine Project with the University of Washington and in the HISEA network with the Wrangell General Hospital and Juneau's Bartlett Regional Hospital. It is governed by a seven-member board and employs over 60 people.

Petersburg is located on an island in SouthEast Alaska, and is accessible by ferry and plane. The population averages around 3500 people and the area's rain forest location is known for its moderate climate. Summer temperatures average in the mid 60’s to mid 70’s. Winter temperatures range from 0-20 degrees. There is generally about 110 inches of rain a year, so enjoy our beautiful area, but you may want to pack your umbrella!
