An Interview
with: Mary Bridge Children's Hospital - MultiCare Health System
Q. Can
you tell us more about your organization?
Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital is part of MultiCare Health System. MultiCare is a south Puget Sound area-based not-for-profit organization of doctors and nurses, clinics and hospitals serving a region extending across much of southwest Washington. MultiCare offers personalized primary care, convenient after-hours care, complete emergency services and advanced medical/surgical services for adults and children.
Q.What types of specialty
services does your organization provide?..
Q.Describe any future
expansion plans, added services or new developments for your facility?
We are in the middle of a capital campaign to fund our new Ambulatory Services building which is currently in the design development stage, probably to begin construction later this year.
Q. What
makes working in your organization different from working for other employers?
Our employees are our greatest asset. We endeavor to provide a workplace that is conducive to our employee’s work and family life. We offer a full range of benefits available to full and part time employees. Our salaries are competitive and we offer a variety of shifts, work hours and work weeks. We have 6-8-10 and 12 hour shifts in a variety of positions and overtime incentives for nursing positions in short staffing situations. While many of our positions are represented by one of several unions, we remain an open shop and union membership is not mandatory.
Q.Can you explain the
career opportunities available for new graduates in your organization?
We provide new graduates with a mentor during the initial 90 days of employment. Our mentors enhance the training we provide and serve as a ready reference for career building by discussing and recommending specialty training such as PALS and ACLS. A new grad may participate in one of our residency programs. Interested RNs should contact Ms. Rita Wilson at 253-403-1260 or via email at rita.wilson@multicare.org
Q. What
can a candidate expect during their interview process?
We provide an initial interview as part of our on-line application. Following this, the qualified applicant may receive a phone call from the hiring manager. The phone call may either be a second interview or an invitation for an in-person interview. The successful candidate will be offered a position by a Human Resources Recruiter. The unsuccessful applicants will receive a letter thanking them for their interest in the position. Applicants may also apply in person or may submit a resume.
Q.What are some common
mistakes candidates make when applying for jobs with your facility?
Applicants frequently do not tell us enough about their knowledge, skill, ability and experience. Often they omit identifying certifications they have earned and training they have received. While a candidate may apply for one position, we may also wish to consider her/him for other positions for which s/he may be better qualified.
