Department: Labor & Delivery Unit Full-time Night and Evening/Night shifts 8 hour and 12 hour shifts, including weekends 60-72 Hours per Pay Period Graduate of an accredited school program - Licensure Required Experience is required PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Demonstrated ability to direct in a positive manner the unit activities, including education, coaching, and mentoring of staff members. 2. Demonstrated ability to create positive work environment and build relationships with staff and physicians. 3. Strong organizational and delegation skills. 4. Demonstrated excellent decision-making ability 5. Demonstrates high level of expertise in assigned area. GENERAL FUNCTION: The Charge Nurse is responsible for daily operational activity on the assigned unit: assessing, planning, organizing and directing activities. S/he will strive to reduce practice variation, advocate for all patients, educate staff regarding the importance of documentation, assessment, ambulation, nutrition, critical thinking, skin care communication, and early discharge planning. S/he will determine staffing needs and assign patients to staff based on patient needs and staff skills.
