Responsibilities: The Patient Services Supervisor supervisors and participates as necessary in the Admissions, Discharge and Communications functions of the department. The Patient Services Supervisor schedules department employees on a 24-hour, 7 day per week basis and initiates such personnel actions as hiring, training, promotion, transfer, discharge, disciplinary action and performance evaluation and develops and implements improvements to the Admissions/Communications systems. This position is responsible for the Audit/Quality Control Process for the department. The incumbent performs monthly audits on the employees’ performance as designated by the department manager.
Qualifications: A Baccalaureate Degree in Business Administration, or related field, is preferred. Relevant work experience may be substituted. Basic knowledge of medical terminology and procedures is required. The incumbent must have the ability to communicate in English, both written and verbally sufficiently to be understood, understand and to competently fulfill the requirements of the job description, and plan, direct and coordinate the work of others. The incumbent must have the ability to use mature judgment in answering questions and in understanding and carrying out orders and procedures; and the ability to be courteous with all contacts. A working knowledge of the team approach to solving problems is necessary. Accurate typing at a minimum speed of 35 wpm and accurate spelling is mandatory.
