Duties: Serves as a member of the Line crew responsible for accomplishment of work necessary to install, construct, maintain and repair all overhead and underground electrical distribution systems and related equipment serving Fort Richardson and Associated Areas This includes in excess of (10) Ten 7200 volt 3 phase circuits of distribution, A 33 KV transmission Line, four substations, over 800 distribution and substation transformers of 3 to 5000 KVA, one switching station, high voltage street lighting, floodlight installation and repair, airfield Lighting and one each monocabLe (chairlift) tramway system. Qualification Requirements: Applicants must have sufficient knowledge, skills and abilities to accomplish the duties of the position, which include the following: Skill to perform work pertinent to any phase of an overall job connected with pole work, related groundwork, overhead and underground installation and repair of facilities and equipment. Must know the theory of transformer connections, such as series, delta paralleled and must have the ability to use testing equipment such as insulation megger, oscillator and tone detector to locate faults in cable. Also, high voltage phase sticks, rotation, volt amp, ohm and volt-amp recording meters. Must have the ability to operate aerial basket and line maintenance truck with winch and boom. Must possess ability to repair and maintain the electrical and mechanical system of one each monocabLe (chair lift) tramway system. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Works from ladders on poles, at ground level, in trenches and manholes. Work requires stooping, bending, climbing and standing for long periods. Work requires coordination of eyes, hands, legs and body. Some moderately heavy lifting is required. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work performed in outdoor temperatures range from 75 degrees to -40 (sub-zero for extended periods during the winter.
