Responsibilities: The Admissions/Communications Float is cross-trained into both the Communications and the Admission/Discharge areas and may be scheduled to work in either/both areas. Communications: The Admissions/Communications Float answers and routes telephone calls, pages staff as necessary to maintain a continuous flow of communication and assists in other areas of the department as requested or scheduled. Admissions: The Admissions/Communications Float gathers patient information into the AS400 system for admission and identifies potential problems involving outpatient discharges, hospital services, and financial arrangements, referring the patient to a Financial Counselor when necessary. Registration paperwork is printed by Admissions personnel.
Qualifications: This position requires high school graduation or equivalent and work experience which would provide a strong working knowledge of insurance, financial arrangements, and business office operations. Accurate typing at a minimum speed of 35 wpm and accurate spelling is mandatory. Must have the ability to move files weighing up to 25 pounds unassisted
